Primary Purpose

The Southern Ontario Water Consortium (SOWC) is a dynamic initiative for research, testing and demonstration of innovative water and wastewater technologies and services with multiple post-secondary, government, non-government and private sector partners. The Project Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative/project support to the Advancing Water Technologies (AWT) program, the Executive Director and SOWC’s Secretariat.

Key Accountabilities:

1 

Secretariat financial administration

  • Budget development, monitoring expenses, reconciliation of P-Cards, monthly FORE financial reports
  • Prepares/reviews expense claims and processing invoices for payment

Project Support (including the AWT program)

  • Reviews and reconciles financial reporting and claims as required by any funded projects
  • Responsible for coordinating periodic metric reports as required by any funded projects

Meetings and Events

  • Plans and coordinates meetings for Advisory Board, Committees, workshops and other outreach events

Communications and associated tools

  • Manages website, social media and print materials
  • Maintains the office’s contact management database and SOWC e-mail system

5. 

General Office Support

  • Manages Executive Director’s calendar
  • Liaises with various staff from SOWC’s member institutions
  • Responds to internal staff queries regarding office procedures and University-wide processes
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

 

3-5 years of work experience in an administrative environment with exposure to finance

Technical:

MS Word Excel PowerPoint Other
Intermediate Intermediate Intermediate Intermediate – Social Media, Website maintenance, E-Mail management

Nature and Scope

Interpersonal Skills:

Must have excellent communications skills and exercise professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders .

Level of Responsibility:

Responsible for providing administrative/project support to the Executive Director and SOWC Secretariat.

Decision-Making Authority:

Independently manages day-to-day responsibilities (administrative/financial) with regular oversight by Executive Director.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

Minimal physical and sensory demands. Considerable amount of work conducted at a computer workstation with demands typical of an administrative position operating within an office environment

Working Environment:

Minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions. Environment is typical of an administrative position where there are regular deadlines.
