Primary Purpose

The Experiential Learning and Events Coordinator, Stratford Campus, will provide administrative support to two key areas:  Internship and Experiential Learning; and Outreach and Events.  This position will provide critical support for the delivery of all events and experiential learning activities at the UWStratford Campus.  This includes the Global Business and Digital Arts (GBDA) Internship program, the Master of Digital Experience Innovation (MDEI) milestone project, class projects for both GBDC and MDEI, and all community and campus events.

Key Accountabilities:

1.  Assist with the overall organization, planning and execution of programs and events at the Stratford Campus.

 

2.  Provide support for the GBDA Internship recruitment cycles.

Position Requirements

Education:

Post-secondary degree or diploma.

Experience:

Experience in an administrative role requiring multi-tasking and prioritizing.  Exceptional attention to detail.

Technical:

MS Word Excel PowerPoint Other
Advanced Advanced Advanced Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (ie. Excel, Word, etc.) and data management tools (ie. Eventbrite, website-based registration systems) and presentation software (ie. PowerPoint, Prezi).  Intermediate to advanced skill level required.

Nature and Scope

Interpersonal Skills:

The Experiential Learning and Events Coordinator has significant interaction with various key stakeholders.  S/he must have strong interpersonal skills, be passionate about quality and attention to detail, and be able to deliver in a high-performance environment with multiple projects, stakeholders and competing deadlines.  S/he must be proactive, enthusiastic, positive, open-minded and ready to work as part of a dynamic, multi-faceted team.  S/he should be methodical, process-oriented and organized, with exceptional planning skills.

Level of Responsibility:

The position has generalized work with some supervision.  S/he reports to the Administrative Officer and receives general guidance from the Internship and Experiential Learning Manager, and the Outreach and Events Manager, yet is expected to perform duties with relative independence and use judgment in determining when involvement of others is required.  Requires initiative, independent thinking/problem-solving, sound judgment, effective time management/prioritization and routine problem resolution.

Decision-Making Authority:

Independent decision-making within a delegated area of authority.  Required to employ initiative, tact, discretion, confidentiality, sensitivity.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

The role requires a significant physical effort with the lifting and transportation of event toolkits, portable banners and other event-related tools to various locations on campus and within the community.  The role also required the set-up and take-down of event locations which often includes moving and rearrangement of chairs and tables.

Working Environment:

Work outside normal operating hours can be expected in this role.  The role often requires extended and/or non-traditional hours in order to set up, oversee and take-down an event.  This position is located at the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus in Stratford, Ontario.
