Knowledge Translation Specialist

General Accountability

MAREP is a not for profit research and education program situated in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo. MAREP strives to benefit and enhance the lives of all individuals affected by dementia including persons living with dementia, family partners in care, and professional partners.


The Knowledge Translation Specialist is accountable to the Director of MAREP for all collaborative work with the MAREP partners in coordinating and facilitating knowledge translation and education for persons with dementia, their family members and staff working in dementia care.

Nature and Scope

Through coordinating, identifying and facilitating the key collaborative efforts of MAREP partners, the Knowledge Translation Specialist will be a member of the MAREP team and a key partner involved in MAREP’s most current research project, the Partnerships in Dementia Care (PiDC) Alliance. Funded by a SSHRC Community-University Research Alliance grant, the goal of the Partnerships in Dementia Care (PiDC) Alliance is to facilitate sustainable and replicable long-term care culture change reflective of an authentic partnership approach in dementia care in order to improve the quality of care for persons with dementia and their families and to improve the quality of work life for staff working in those settings.
