Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Administrative Officer the Program Manager oversees the Psychology program with the collaboration of the Associate Chair Undergraduate, the Associate Chair Graduate, the HRM Director, and the program coordinators. This position coordinates the Psychology programs, supervises, and strategizes to ensure it is a success.

Position Requirements

Education:

Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

Administrative experience in an academic environment; with undergraduate student academic advising preferred. Must demonstrate significant management and leadership skills. Competencies will include strategic and creative thinking, people management, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Tact, judgement & diplomacy, multi-tasking, concurrent task and problem management, ability to assess, analyze and resolve issues are essential.

Nature and Scope

Interpersonal Skills:

This position requires communication and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of internal contacts to obtain, clarify and discuss information, and when dealing with students, to present and discuss information and problems, leading to resolution. 

Level of Responsibility:

The position has specialized work with minimal supervision, provides supervision and guidance to others. Works closely with the Administrative Officer, Associate Chair UG Studies, Associate Chair Graduate Studies, and the HRM Director.

Decision-Making Authority:

This position has decision-making authority; complex and non-routine issues involve consultation with the Administrative Officer, Associate Chair UG studies, Associate Chair Graduate Studies, and the HRM Director.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

Minimal demands typical of an office administrator operating within a team-oriented and multi-project office environment.

Working Environment:

Travel: none

Working hours: regular with infrequent evening and weekends.

Risks, physical and psychological: Involves minimal physical or psychological risk resulting from a diverse environment with deadlines, multiple priorities, and frequent interruptions.
