General Accountability

The Administrative Coordinator is accountable to the Director of the Mathematics business and accounting programs for general administration of the programs and related academic plans, including coordination and liaison with the Registrar’s Offices at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, the WLU School of Business and Economics, and academic departments and the School of Accountancy at UW.

Nature and Scope

      The Director of the Math Business and Accounting programs administers three collaborative programs for the Faculty:

All programs/plans require extensive negotiations and liaison with partner departments, the School of Accountancy and the SBE at WLU. The Double Degree program presents special challenges in coordinating registration and other joint functions with administrative offices at both UW and WLU.

Statistical Data

The Double Degree program has 300 students.  Enrolment is restricted, with 45 students admitted into first year at each of WLU and UW.

The Math/Accountancy plan also has restricted enrolment, admitting 55 students annually directly into first year.

The Math/Business plan this year admitted 120 students directly into first year. Students can also transfer in to the plan in second year and beyond. The enrolment in Math/Business plans is among the largest in the Faculty (after CS). Total enrolment in 2001/02 was ~350 students.

The current non-salary budget for the Math/Business/Accountancy programs is $10,000 per year. An increase is anticipated as support for these programs is augmented and enhanced.
