Primary Purpose

The Manager provides overall administrative and operational support in carrying out activities related to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Mathematics. 

Key Accountabilities:

1.  Provides leadership and management of the operational activities of the Math Undergrad Office and staff.  This includes, but is not limited t:

 

2.  In consultation with the Administrative Coordinator/Academic Advisor, supervises academic processes for the Faculty of Mathematics, including:

4.  Financial planning and support for activities associated with the office including, but not limited to the following:

 

5.  Provide leadership at the faculty level to undergraduate administrators in the academic units; facilitate coordination of effort and sharing of best practices. Oversee and direct faculty-wide processes, including but not limited to: scheduling activities; academic progression; academic advisement; communications of undergraduate-related material.

Position Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:

Administrative experience; familiarity with policies and procedures relating to undergraduate students and cooperative education. Well-developed organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills, and communication skills (written and oral) are required. Excellent human relation skills, in particular, ability to guide and develop staff and foster constructive team relationships. Proven ability to deal with confidential issues and interact tactfully with others.  Demonstrated use of sound judgment, tact, diplomacy and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere in a busy and varied environment with deadlines and changing priorities. Experience with budgeting desirable.

Technical:


Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel (including features such as databases and pivot tables), Word and Web content management software. A sound knowledge of databases and sharepoint.  Intermediate experience using online student information systems – People soft, Quest and ASIS. Knowledge of the University’s budgeting software (FORE).
