Primary Purpose

These positions are responsible for the management and advancement of specific areas found within the Portfolio Management group. Managers perform research, make appropriate recommendations, ensure alignment of IT efforts, ensure best practices, serve as a senior resource to IST and the campus, provide expertise, promote external partnerships and supervise staff. Incumbents share overall responsibility for day-to-day management of the group and also IST with other Managers, Directors and the CIO. 


The Portfolio Management group is divided into 3 main function areas with the incumbent holding responsibility for one of these areas.

Position Requirements


University degree or equivalent post-secondary education and/or experience required.



Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience with a proven track record of achievement and success within Information Technology.  Competencies will include strategic thinking, research, people management, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Interpersonal Skills:

Senior presentation, negotiating, communication abilities


Level of Responsibility:

The position is responsible and accountable for the overall results for one of Portfolio and Strategy, PMO, or Policy & Standards.

Decision-Making Authority:

In consultation with the Director, responsible and accountable for establishing the priorities for one of Portfolio and Strategy, PMO, or Policy & Standards.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

Minimal demands typical of a senior executive position operating within an office environment.

Working Environment:

Minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions typical of a senior position exposed to stress and pressure associated with senior level responsibilities.
