Primary Purpose

The Math Coffee & Donut Shop (CnD) Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the Math Coffee & Donut Shop’s (sales $750 000/year) operations.  The CnD Manager’s core purpose is to execute a financially sustainable, break-even business model, without compromising service, quality, price and product offerings.

Position Requirements


Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in the study of commerce, food/beverage, hospitality and/or equivalent work experience in a similar role.


3-5 years of progressive store management experience with a proven record of achievement and success in store management.  Key competencies include: people management, communication, organizational, strategic planning, negotiation and time management skills.

Nature and Scope

Interpersonal Skills:

Internally, the position communicates with all part time employees, student/faculty guests, and Math Society leadership, on campus event planners and maintenance staff.  Internally, the position represents the Math CnD and its needs, service offerings and it’s strive for excellence in operations.  Externally, this position will have contacts including suppliers, delivery drivers and account managers.

Level of Responsibility:

The position is responsible and accountable for the overall financial and service levels of the Math CnD.

Decision-Making Authority:

Responsible and accountable for day to day operational decisions, including necessary expenditures (up to $500), daily orders, and scheduling part time staff.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

Minimal demands typical for a store manager of a food/beverage outlet.  Some heavy lifting may be required at times.

Working Environment:

This role requires the position to be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment serving over 2000 guests on many days.  Some evening/weekend work may be required throughout the year.
